New Delhi/ Deepak Mandal: On world cancer day, Indian Medical Association started cancer program with the support of Delhi State Cancer Institute.

Every year more Indian women that men are diagnosed with cancer.Though the number of women diagnosed with cancer is more but more men die to cancer annually.

”40 percent of Indian are suffering from Cancer, of which Cervical Cancer is very common among woman,” said Dr. Rajesh grover. Whereas males are infected by Lung cancer and oral cancer due to higher consumption of tobacco in Metro cities.

“Doing unsafe sex is the main reason to cervical cancer. If a woman is doing such thing with different partners or v/s it can lead to cervical cancer” said Dr K. K.Aggarwal (Secretary General, IMA).In western countries 1-2 percent of people are found to be infected by Cervical cancer, whereas in India it is 25-26 percent.    

Warning Signals Of Cancer:

1.Unusual bleeding or discharge from any site or orifice.

2.A lump, nodule or swelling in any part of the body.

3.An ulcer or wound anywhere that does not heal, including mouth cavity.

4.Persistent irritating cough or hoarseness of voice.

5.Indigestion or pain difficulty during swallowing.

6.Recent change in bowel or bladder habits.

7.Obvious change in shape ,size or appearance of a wart or mole.

8.Weakness in one part or body side

9.Irregular fever,weight loss,and persistent loss in appetite.

Cure of Cancer

1.Get regular screening for breast, cervical, and colorectal cancer.

2.Be physically active.

3.Avoid excess sun.

4.Eat a diet rich in fruits, vegetables and whole grains and low in saturated/trans fat.

5.Limit alcohol intake.

6.Say no to active and passive smoking.

Dr Aggarwal said “Meditation plays the  key role to live long and healthy life.” Meditation is like boon to those who are suffering from stage 4 cancer(40+ age) . 

Treatment of cancer can cost an individual a lot but some government institutes are also providing free cancer treatment to those who are not in position to afford the expences.Delhi state cancer institute is also among them, not only treatment but medicines also are providing by them. Mostly Cancer cases reported at their Dilshad garden center, and other center that is in Janakpuri.
